Product updates

What’s new: September 8, 2026

A guide to today’s features and improvements, with links to the updated instructions.

This release expands who can receive reminders, makes daily work clearer and preserves more of the context behind renewals. These guides describe the features available in the September 8 release.

External contacts and bulk reminders

Account > Contacts now holds people who need reminder emails without a workspace login or team seat. Save their name, email and timezone, explicitly send confirmation and assign them to records. They confirm before emails become eligible and can stop reminders through the email link.

Record recipients can include additional team members and contacts, including during manual or AI-assisted creation. Table selection and Contacts > Manage records support reviewed bulk Add, Remove and Replace operations. Owners stay included.

Confirmation and external reminder emails use the shared Lapsewise styling through the existing email service. Delivery states are visible. See Contacts, Bulk reminders and Delivery troubleshooting.

A clearer daily workspace

All five views now explain their purpose. Search and filters are more compact, optional controls are grouped, and nonempty date groups show useful previews.

  • Runway shows open deadlines, their owner and a suggested next action, plus reminder issues and document/setup checks. Summary counts cover all matching records.
  • Timeline shows every open date, with a Today line and coloured trails connecting today to the deadline. Narrow screens use a readable agenda.
  • Board tracks review progress independently of urgency: Not started, Reviewing, Waiting, Approved and Review complete. Whole-card dragging, touch and keyboard/menu alternatives are available.
  • Table offers clearer date headings, persistent column choices and bulk recipient selection. Sorting is scoped to the current page.
  • Calendar shows individual open dates, handles busy days, supports month navigation and offers an agenda on smaller screens.

Read Choosing a view.

Search, saved views and calendar subscriptions

Search and filters work across the matching records, with page controls for larger results. Save useful personal views. Create a private filtered calendar subscription covering matching open dates beyond the current page, and revoke it when no longer needed.

See Search and saved views and Calendar subscriptions.

Easier record creation and editing

Both Add record and existing record details use wider responsive panels. Brighter headings, charcoal or pale blue-grey section surfaces and subtle indigo highlights separate related fields. Advanced controls and less-used metadata start collapsed.

Shared skeleton loading states and short fade transitions make loading and view changes easier to follow, with reduced-motion preferences respected. Checkboxes now use the Lapsewise theme in both light and dark modes, including keyboard focus, disabled and partial-selection states.

The onboarding flow remains and starts with a real record or document. See Getting started, Add a record and Record details.

Individual deadlines and responsibility

A record can have several open obligations. Completing one date does not silently complete every other date. I am handling this acknowledges an individual deadline; optional reminder pauses and backup members support handovers. Acknowledgement and normal reminder delivery remain separate.

See Responsibility, pauses and backups.

Renewal rules, cycles and retained history

Automatic date rollover requires an explicitly confirmed renewal anchor and term. Billing frequency is separate from renewal frequency. Manual renewal records the chosen old and new dates and preserves the previous cycle.

Renewal evidence includes retained document versions and record context. Change history identifies member or system activity and relevant before/after values, with 365-day retention. Record evidence packs and full workspace archives provide downloads with retained files and history.

See Renewals and change history and Archives and evidence packs.

Document checks and external collection

Reusable document templates define expected requirements for an organisation or person. Results distinguish missing records, missing files, dates needed and expired versus present/in-date items. Requirements match recorded data; they do not independently certify document contents.

Private upload links let an external person submit a document without joining. A member reviews it before attachment, with a choice to retain it as an additional file or approve a replacement while keeping the previous version.

See Document checks and Document requests.

Domain observations and AI review

Opt-in domain checks collect public registration and live TLS expiry observations approximately daily. Applying an observation to a saved deadline is an explicit review action.

AI extraction keeps the AI reads, you confirm flow. Included usage, reservations and confirmed failure recovery are clearer, and retry handling reduces repeated work. Supported attached documents can be parsed and reviewed before applying selected fields.

See Domains and AI document parsing.

Imports, analytics and reliability

Spreadsheet import includes column/date review, duplicate matching and safe retries. Free users can try a bounded import within remaining record slots. Analytics distinguishes annualised listed costs from values at recorded renewal dates, includes deadline workload and handles unavailable currency conversions explicitly.

Reminder delivery now distinguishes provider acceptance from reported delivery and uncertain outcomes, with bounded recovery and visible review actions. Uploads, record saves, billing retries and workspace access checks received reliability and security improvements. These changes do not make a recorded document proof of compliance or a delivered email proof of action.

See Import, Analytics, Reminders and Billing.

Videos and documentation

The original landing-page hero remains, with a renewal walkthrough further down the page and a new short explainer. Getting started videos remain available for onboarding.

The documentation now has grouped navigation, search, task-based starting points, article contents and previous/next links. All twelve module guides and account instructions have been updated for this release; existing documentation URLs continue to work.
