CSV import

Bring your existing renewal and expiry dates into Lapsewise in bulk with a CSV import, mapping your columns to records and key dates.

CSV import

If you're already tracking renewals in a spreadsheet, you don't have to retype everything. Lapsewise can import your existing data from a CSV so you start with all your dates in place.

How it works

  1. Export your current tracker to CSV (one row per item).
  2. In Lapsewise, open the import option for the relevant module.
  3. Map your columns to Lapsewise fields — title, key date, owner, value, reference, notes.
  4. Review the preview and confirm. Your records are created and immediately appear on the runway and status board.

Preparing your CSV

  • One row per record (per certificate, contract, license, etc.).
  • A clear title column.
  • A date column in a consistent format (ISO YYYY-MM-DD is safest).
  • Optional columns: owner (email), value/fee, reference number, notes, and — for contracts/memberships — the notice period.

Tips

  • Clean the dates before importing — consistent formatting avoids mismatches.
  • Import one module at a time so the column mapping stays simple.
  • After import, set reminder lead times (and notice periods for contracts) so reminders start firing.
  • Spot-check a few imported records against your spreadsheet to confirm the mapping was right.

FAQ

Will import set up reminders automatically? Import creates the records and dates; set lead times (and notice periods) so reminders fire. Some fields may carry defaults — review after import.

What if my spreadsheet has mixed item types? Split it by module (certs, contracts, etc.) and import each separately for the cleanest mapping.

Can I re-import to update records later? Treat import as the initial load; ongoing edits are best done in-app to avoid duplicates.
