Contracts module
Track contracts and their renewal and notice dates in Lapsewise, with notice-period awareness so you act before auto-renewal locks you in.
Contracts module
The Contracts module tracks agreements that renew or expire: vendor and supplier contracts, software subscriptions, service agreements, leases, NDAs with end dates, and SLAs. It's the module where Lapsewise's notice-period awareness matters most.
What it tracks
- The contract and counterparty
- The renewal date and notice period
- Value / recurring fee
- The owner responsible
- The signed contract document (PDF)
Key dates
- Renewal date — when the term rolls over.
- Notice deadline — renewal date minus the notice period. This is the date that actually matters, and Lapsewise reminds you before it. See Notice periods explained.
Why notice periods matter
Many contracts auto-renew unless you cancel before a notice deadline (often 30/60/90 days ahead). A reminder on the renewal date is too late. Set the notice period on the record and Lapsewise warns you while you can still cancel, renegotiate, or consciously renew.
A worked example
| Field | Value | |---|---| | Title | "Cloud hosting — AcmeCloud" | | Renewal date | June 1 | | Notice period | 60 days | | Lead time | 14 days | | Reminder | ~March 19 — well before the April 2 notice deadline |
Tips
- Always capture the notice period — it's the single most valuable field here.
- Use a longer lead time on high-value contracts so you have time to negotiate, not just cancel.
- Track your decision (renew / cancel / renegotiate) on the status board.
FAQ
What if a contract has no notice period? Set notice to 0 and Lapsewise reminds against the renewal date directly.
Can I track recurring SaaS subscriptions here? Yes — subscriptions are contracts; capture the renewal date and any cancellation window.
Ready to stop things lapsing? Start with Lapsewise — add a date, attach the document, get reminded.
