SMS reminders

Add SMS reminders to Lapsewise on Pro using your own Twilio account, for high-stakes dates you don't want buried in an inbox.

SMS reminders

Email reminders are on by default for everyone. On Pro, you can also send reminders by SMS using your own Twilio account (BYO) — ideal for the high-stakes dates you can't afford to have buried in an inbox.

Why BYO Twilio

SMS reminders use your own Twilio credentials, so message costs are billed to your Twilio account and you control your own sending number and spend. Lapsewise stores your credentials encrypted and uses them only to send your reminders.

Setup

  1. Be on a Pro plan.
  2. Create a Twilio account and get an Account SID, Auth Token, and a sending phone number.
  3. In Lapsewise, open the notification settings and enter your Twilio details and the destination number.
  4. Enable SMS on the records (or for the owner) you want texted.

When to use SMS vs email

  • Email — the default for everything; full detail, no extra setup.
  • SMS — reserve for critical, time-sensitive dates (a license that can't lapse, a contract notice deadline) where a text is harder to miss.

Tips

  • Don't put SMS on everything — keep it for the dates that truly warrant a phone buzz, so the signal stays strong.
  • Reminders still respect the 8am-local-time rule.
  • Keep your Twilio number and balance healthy so sends don't fail.

FAQ

Is SMS included for free? No — SMS is a Pro feature and uses your own Twilio account for the message costs.

Where are my Twilio credentials stored? Encrypted, and used only to send your reminders.

Can different owners get their own SMS? Yes — reminders go to the record's owner; configure numbers accordingly.
