SMS reminders

Email reminders are on for everyone. On Pro, you can also get reminders by SMS through your own Twilio account, ideal for the high-stakes dates you cannot afford to have buried in an inbox. Texts are scheduled alongside email, and email keeps coming too.

Why your own Twilio account

Messages go through your Twilio credentials, so message costs are billed by Twilio at their per-message rate and you control the sending number. Lapsewise never charges for messages. Your auth token is verified with Twilio before saving, stored encrypted, and never shown again.

Setup

1. Be on Pro.
2. Create a Twilio account with a phone number or a Messaging Service.
3. In Lapsewise open Account > Notifications > SMS reminders and click Save Twilio details.
4. Enter your phone number (where texts are sent), the Twilio Account SID, the sending number or Messaging Service SID, and the Twilio Auth Token.
5. Switch on Enable SMS reminders.

SMS settings are per person. Each teammate who wants texts enters their own phone number under their own account; the Twilio details can be shared.

When to use SMS vs email

• Email, the default for everything; full detail, no extra setup.
• SMS, for the dates where a text is harder to miss: a license that cannot lapse, a contract notice deadline.

Tips

• Keep your Twilio number and balance healthy so sends do not fail.
• Reminders still follow the 08:00 local time rule.
• If you replace the auth token in Twilio, update it in Lapsewise too.

FAQ

Is SMS included for free? SMS is a Pro feature and uses your own Twilio account for the message costs.

Where are my Twilio credentials stored? Encrypted, and used only to send your reminders. Remove them any time with Remove.

Can I text only some records? SMS is switched on per person, not per record. Everyone with SMS enabled is eligible for texts on records they own or receive as an additional team member.
