Domains module

The Domains module tracks the web infrastructure that quietly expires: domain names, SSL certificates, hosting plans, email services, DNS and CDN subscriptions, code signing certificates. A lapsed domain or certificate takes your site, email or app down in public, and getting it back can take days.

What it tracks

• The domain or asset and who it is registered with
• The expiry date (registration or certificate end)
• The registrar or provider and any reference
• The owner responsible
• Renewal cost, so it shows in analytics

Live lookup

When you add a domain, type the name (for example acme.com) and Lapsewise looks up the registration expiry from the registry and reads the live SSL certificate's end date directly from the site. Apply either date to the record with one click. No API keys or third party services involved, and only public domain names are looked up.

Key date

Expiry. Reminders fire on your workspace schedule (60, 30 and 7 days before, and on the day, by default) at 08:00 local time. SSL certificates often run 90 days, so the 30 and 7 day steps do most of the work there.

A worked example

An agency manages twelve client domains, each with its own SSL certificate and hosting plan. Every asset is a record with the client as holder and the account manager as owner. Lapsewise reminds the account manager 60, 30 and 7 days out, and the Table view shows every expiry per client for the quarterly review.

Tips

• Add the registrar's auto-renew status in the notes, and make sure the card on file there is not itself about to expire.
• Use the Category picker (Domain name, SSL certificate, Hosting plan, Email service, DNS / CDN service, Code signing certificate) so the Table view filters cleanly.
• Track the domains of client projects you run, not just your own. Their outage is your emergency.

FAQ

Does the lookup work for every domain? Most public domains, yes. Some country registries do not publish expiry dates; enter the date from your registrar's dashboard in that case.

Can Lapsewise renew the domain for me? No. It reminds you in time; the renewal happens at your registrar or certificate provider.
