Timeline

See deadline markers and trails from today to plan ahead for busy periods.

On this page

Purpose: See the distribution of open deadlines over time.

On desktop, Timeline shows one row per open date, with the record title, date type, full date and associated organisation/person. A dot locates the deadline on a shared horizontal time axis. A Today line separates past and future positions. A subtle coloured trail connects today to each deadline: future dates extend to the right, and overdue dates extend to the left.

The dots are deadline markers. They are not project-duration bars or a percentage-complete display. The scale accommodates the dates on the current page and includes today.

Selecting the record label or its date marker opens that particular deadline in the record details panel. On smaller screens, the view becomes a chronological agenda that is easier to read and tap.

Best use

Use Timeline for medium-term planning:

  • Spot several renewals arriving close together.
  • Plan reviews before a busy month.
  • Compare an early notice deadline with a later renewal.
  • See grant reports alongside the eventual grant end date.

Filter by department or owner to make the timeline useful for a particular team. A filter is also helpful when far-future records spread the axis over a long period.

The view uses the current filtered page. See Search and saved views to narrow the result.
