Insurance module
Track insurance policies and their renewal dates in Lapsewise — liability, property, COIs, vehicle, professional indemnity — so coverage never lapses.
Insurance module
The Insurance module tracks policies that must stay in force: general and professional liability, property, vehicle, workers' comp, certificates of insurance (COIs), and professional indemnity. A lapsed policy is a serious exposure — this module makes sure renewals happen on time.
What it tracks
- The policy and insurer
- The renewal date (and any notice period)
- Premium / value
- Policy number and the owner responsible
- The policy document or COI (PDF)
Key dates
- Renewal date — when cover must be renewed.
- Notice period — if the policy auto-renews or requires advance notice to change, capture it so Lapsewise reminds you in time (see Notice periods).
A worked example
A contractor tracks general liability, vehicle cover, and a stack of subcontractor COIs. Each COI has an expiry; each policy has a renewal date. Lapsewise reminds the owner 30 days out, so cover is renewed and COIs collected before any gap — important when a client or job requires proof of current insurance.
Tips
- Track subcontractor/vendor COIs as records too, so you're warned before their cover lapses on your job.
- Set lead times that allow for broker quotes and comparison before renewal.
- Attach the policy/COI so proof of cover is instantly available.
FAQ
Can I track third-party COIs, not just my own policies? Yes — add a record per COI with its expiry and owner; you'll be reminded before each lapses.
What if premiums change at renewal? Use the value/notes fields to track the premium, and a longer lead time to shop around.
