Attaching documents

Every record in Lapsewise can hold its source document — the signed contract, the certificate PDF, the insurance policy, the warranty card. Keeping the document with the date means that when a reminder fires, the paperwork is one click away instead of buried in someone's inbox or a shared drive.

How to attach

1. Open (or create) a record.
2. Use the document / upload field.
3. Select the file (PDF is typical; common document and image types are supported).
4. Save. The file is stored privately against that record.

Why it matters

• Context at decision time. When the renewal reminder arrives, you can open the actual contract and check the terms, the notice period, and the counterparty before acting.
• One source of truth. No more "which version was signed?" — the record holds the document everyone refers to.
• Faster handovers. If the owner changes or someone's away, the next person has everything in one place.

Security & access

Documents are stored privately and scoped to your workspace — only members of your workspace can access them, governed by your team roles. They aren't public and aren't shared across workspaces.

Tips

• Attach the document at the moment you create the record, while you have it open.
• Name your records clearly so the right document is easy to find later.
• For contracts, also capture the notice period on the record (see Notice periods) — the document plus the structured date is what makes reminders reliable.

FAQ

What file types can I attach? PDFs are the common case; standard document and image formats are supported.

Is there a size limit? Reasonable document sizes are fine. For very large files, store them in your DMS and link, or attach the key pages.

Can I replace a document later? Yes — upload a newer version (e.g. a renewed certificate) when it changes.
